Company History
Kramig Insulation (R.E. Kramig & Co.) was started in 1896 by Robert Kramig, Sr. who served as the Company President for 51 years. The Company was incorporated in the State of Ohio in 1934. Robert Kramig, Jr., son of the founder, succeeded his father as President in 1947 and held this position until his death in 1956. Robert Kramig III and John Kramig assumed the duties as President and Vice President until 1988. In 1988, an Employee Stock Ownership Plan was created, purchasing 100% of the Company stock. George J. Kulesza became President/Treasurer and Howard H. Horne became Executive Vice President/Secretary.
The Company began as an industrial and commercial insulation contractor, participating in historic landmark projects in Cincinnati, including construction of the Carew Tower, Central Trust Tower and Union Terminal. During the early 1900’s, Kramig
Insulation developed patents on several types of insulation still in use today. As the Company grew, Kramig
Insulation expanded into industrial soundproofing, fireproofing, hazardous material removal and design and installation of folding doors and partitions.
Kramig Insulation serves a wide range of clients: hotels, hospitals, universities, stadiums, and manufacturing plants for the chemical, refinery, brewery, distillery, utility and automotive industries.
From its origins on the Ohio River in downtown Cincinnati, the 1937 flood prompted Kramig
Insulation
to move uptown. In 1956, the Company relocated to its present location in Lockland, Ohio, where it presently occupies a 2-acre site with 75,000 square feet of storage capacity.
